Sitting ducks for enemy planes, the crew of observation balloons were among the lucky few to be issued with parachutes.

Western Front: Captain Happe and Sergeant Labouchere in Voisin plane destroy a German kite balloon at Neider Morschweiler with air-to-air bomb and 250 aerodarts.

Turkey: Talaat Bey puts Kemal Bey in command of Constantinople food supply, poor mostly maize. Official war bread sold at inflated prices until February 1916.
