Africa

Tunisia: British 8th Army attacks Axis positions at Enfidaville, north of Sousse.

Air War

Germany: RAF night raids on Berlin and port of Stettin. First ‘nuisance’ raid on the capital by 11 Mosquito bombers (1 lost). Russians bomb Tilsit (East Prussia).

Home Fronts

Japan: Shigemitsu appointed Foreign Minister (replacing Tani).
Mexico: Roosevelt and President Camachio confer at Monterey.
