Kitchener visits France to see Joffre, convinced Allied autumn offensive necessary due to Russian collapse.
Artois: Falkenhayn warns German Sixth Army that Allied offensive imminent.

Eastern Front

Russians retreat to Brest­-Osovyets-Kovno line.
