Pacific: JAPANESE PLANES BOMB MANILA. They refute ‘arbitrary and unilateral’ US announcement declaring Philippine capital a ‘open city’.
Germany: 132 RAF bombers attacking Duesseldorf and dropping 126t of bombs.
