The British fleet as it arrived at Trincomalee on Ceylon. In front the carrier ‘Unicorn’ with Barracuda strike aircrafts and Corsair fighters on board. In the background the battlecruiser ‘Renown’, the carrier ‘Illustrious’ and a Fiji-class cruiser.
North Sea: Battleships HMS Queen Elizabeth, Valiant, Renown and aircraft carriers Illustrious and Unicorn leave Scapa Flow and the Clyde for Ceylon.
Germany: 656 RAF bombers attacking Berlin and dropping 2,315t of bombs.
