Russian Front

Pomerania: Zhukov captures Schneidemühl.

Western Front

Canadians repel four counter-attacks in Reichswald sector.

Air War

Europe: 8th USAAF completes Allied ‘triple blow’ against Dresden; also bombs Chemnitz, Magdeburg, Prague (in error) and Wesel Bridge over river Rhine. Total numbers of bombers and escorts 1,440 (13 lost). Severe RAF night raid on Chemnitz.

Politics

Chile declares war on Germany and Japan.
