‘HMS Unbeaten’ operated almost exclusively in the Mediterranean until its destruction, and could sunk two submarines.

Mediterranean: U-boat U-374 sunk by British submarine Unbeaten off Catania (Sicily).

Politics

Japan: Government declares war on Netherlands East Indies.
USA and Mexico: US-Mexican Joint Defence Commission established.

Occupied Territories

Yugoslavia: General Simovic resigns as Prime Minister of Yugoslav Government-in-Exile; succeeded by Professor Yovanovic. General Mihailovic, leader of Chetniks (Serbian partisans) appointed Minister of National Defence and C-in-C of all Yugoslav resistance forces.
