In Malaya, the British, Australians and New Zealanders are still using outdated Brewster F2A Buffalo fighter aircrafts.
WW2 War Diary for Monday, January 26, 1942:

Sea War

Pacific: 68 British aircraft (13 lost) attack Japanese troop convoy off east coast of Malaya. In night January 26-27 destroyers Thanet (British) and Vampire (Australian) attack; Thanet sunk by Japanese warships.
Atlantic: First American troop convoy reaches Northern Ireland (Operation Magnet).
