In the defence line around Sebastopol were many natural caves, which were used as bunkers by the Red Army or as shelters for the civilian population.

Eastern Front

Siege of Sebastopol: German 11th Army, reinforced by elements of 17th Army, breaks through defences and reaches North Bay.

Turkey: Rail links between Turkey and Central Europe (severed April 1941 during the Balkans campaign) re-opened.
