German PoWs in France
German prisoners of war in France, with the badge ‘PG’ for ‘Prisonniers de guerre’. Nearly one million German soldiers were captured and the last ones did not return until 1920.
World War One Diary for Thursday, June 26, 1919:

Germany: Fightings in Berlin and Hamburg.
Britain: Haig appeals to workmen and unions to help unemployed ex­-servicemen find work.
