Mediterranean

Italy: 5th US ARMY ENTERS ROME. MAAF fighter-bombers decimate German columns retreating north along Highways 1, 2 and 3, destroying or damaging 1,000 vehicles. By night, Wellingtons and B-24 Liberators plaster Highways 3 and 4 with heavy bombs.
