A special construction Churchill ‘Bobbin’, which as a ‘carpet fitter’ makes the beaches of Normandy usable for tanks.

Normandy: British and Americans establish contact near Port-en-Bessin west of Arromanches. British 7th Armored Division begins landing on ‘Gold’ beach.
