General Franco — The Spanish head of state ‘Caudillo’ General Francisco Franco. With the help of Hitler and Mussolini he wins the Spanish Civil War and becomes the last fascist dictator, supported by the army, the Falange, the Catholic Church and the landowners.

Roosevelt informs Spain she can expect no US aid while Franco dictatorship continues.

Western Front

Canadians eliminate the Wesel Pocket opposite Xanten. Kesselring takes over command from von Rundstedt, sacked on March 7, and jokes to his staff ‘I am the new V-3.’

Air War

Germany: 153 RAF bombers attacking Scholven-Buer and dropping 755 t. of bombs.
