Britain: A large proportion of people evacuated from cities in September 1939 have now drifted back home; only 300,000 schoolchildren, out of original one million, remaining in country reception areas.

Only one British merchant shipSS Daghestan (5,742 t.) – lost through enemy action in week ending March 31.
Merchant shipping losses in March 1940: 45 Allied ships with 107,009 tons in Atlantic, 0 Allied ship with 0 tons elsewhere.
3 U-boats sunk in the Atlantic, Arctic or Baltic.
