Advancing German troops during the ‘Frühlingserwachen’ offensive.

Diary for Tuesday, March 6, 1945:

Russian Front

Poland: Rokossovsky captures encircled fortress of Grudziadz.
Operation Frühlingserwachen (‘Spring Awakening’): 6th SS Panzer Army attacks north of lake Balaton in attempt to recapture Budapest and gains 32 km by March 8.

Western Front

Cologne taken by US 1st Army.
