RN destroyer Wolverine sunks U-47 with Prien. This picture was taken as she came back to Plymouth, together with battlecruiser Renown (background) from the hunting of the Graf Spee.

Atlantic: U-boat ‘ace’ Cdr. Gunther Prien, the ‘Bull of Scapa Flow‘, dies; his U-47 is sunk by HMS Wolverine while attacking Convoy OB.293.
