Germany: Night raid on Munich by 217 bombers {500 t bombs); Nymphenburg Castle damaged.

Eastern Front

Southern Sector: Russians withdraw from Krasnodar (Donets Basin) and Barvenkovo.

Africa

Tunisia: Von Arnim succeeds Rommel in Tunisia; Rommel leaves Africa.

Sea War

Indian Ocean: 3 trapped German merchant ships scuttled at Marmagao (Portuguese India) by British commandos of the Calcutta Light Horse in SOE operation to stop radioing of shipping movements to U-boats in the Indian Ocean. Not made public till 1978.
