Hindenburg sworn in Reich President
After his resignation as commander-in-chief of the German army, Hindenburg was sworn in for the first time in 1925 as a compromise solution and as ‘substitute emperor’ for the Reich President.
World War One Diary for Friday, May 2, 1919:

Germany: ­Hindenburg announces his resignation as Army C-in-C as from peace.
Hungary: Allies agree to occupy Budapest.
Britain: Admiralty publishes March 1915 Dardanelles dispatches.
