Tateo Kato
Tateo Kato led the Japanese 64th Sentai from April 1941 until his dead when he fell victim to an RAF Blenheim IV of No 60 Squadron. He was one of the most respected Sentai leaders of the entire JAAF in WW2.

Southeast Asia: Lt.-Col. Kato, Japanese AAF fighter ‘ace’ (58 victories) disappears in his Nakajima Oscar fighter over Bay of Bengal.

Mexico: Government declares war on Germany, Italy and Japan (as from June 1).
