aircraft carrier Argus
The old aircraft carrier Argus (commissioned 1918, only 20 aircraft and 20 kts) served as a training carrier by 1940, although her war service included convoy escort and aircraft ferrying. She replaced Ark Royal in Force H following that carrier’s loss next day. She participated in Operation Torch, but by 1943 had reverted to her role as a training carrier.
