Eastern Front

USSR: Lenin cables Trotsky ‘Recovery proceeding excellently’. First £12.5 million of war indemnity sent from Moscow. Germans receive at Orsha on September 10.

Western Front

Flanders: Skirmishing in Armentieres-Lens sector.
Somme: BEF Fourth Army retakes Roisel rail junction (Cambrai-St Quentin line).

Air War

Germany: No 104 Squadron loses 5 DH9s in Ludwigshafen raid.
